Costa Rica will play El Salvador for seventh place

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 8, 2010 – Costa Rica downed Trinidad & Tobago 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-19) and will play against El Salvador for the seventh place of the NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball Championship. The defeated side will meet Guadeloupe for the ninth place on Friday.

Evelyn Sibaja led Costa Rica with 13 points while Mariela Solano and Mijal Hines added 11 and 10 respectively. Trinidadian Marisha Herbert had a match-high 14 points and Samantha Prescott added 12.

“We gave our best effort but we could have played better,” Costa Rican Hines said. “Trinidad has very tall players and made it difficult to us.”

“We didn’t have enough concentration and didn’t have consistency,” Trinidadian Herbert said.
